What is Ipsy Glam Bag?

Ipsy is a monthly beauty subscription box. There are 3 tiers of membership: Glam Bag, Glam Bag Plus and Glam Bag X.

The Glam Bag membership is a $13 a month subscription (plus tax and an additional $1.99 for handling). In this subscription, you get 5 deluxe size beauty samples worth up to $70 and sent to you in a cute themed bag. Each month, you get to choose one of the deluxe beauty samples that you will receive, and Ipsy will decide the remaining 4 based off of the initial beauty preference quiz you take. This is the most popular subscription option that Ipsy has to offer.

The Bag

The pink bag for February 2023 is designed by LA-based designer Dime Jones. The pink, heart themed is the designer’s take on the Valentine’s Day vibe. The back of the bag says “SELF LOVE IS THE BEST LOVE” in gold letters.

AMINNAH SKINCARE – Birthday Cake Whipped Body Butter

Value: $5.07

This body butter actually smells exactly like birthday cake frosting. Heck, it even looks like frosting! I personally love the smell, but my husband thinks that it is too strong. Definitely gives off more teenager vibes, but it still smells good in my opinion.

In terms of how the product goes on, I did not like it at all. It also felt like I was rubbing frosting all over my skin. But not even regular frosting. Kind of like stale, hardened frosting. This may be because I live in Wisconsin and it is winter here and cold, but I just couldn’t get it like a “butter” consistency. It was definitely hard and crumbly unfortunately. I’ll try it again in the summer when it’s warm.

CIATÉ LONDON – Glow To Illuminating Blush in Matchmaker

Value: $15.62

I’m actually surprised by the value in this deluxe sample! This blush might become one of my new favourites. It is like a blush and a highlighter in one. Goes on subtle and shimmery. I have seen some reviews online saying that it goes on very pigmented so be careful, but I didn’t find that at all. Perhaps with other shades, but this Matchmaker shade is quite soft, and it gives a subtle shimmer. Can definitely be buildable.

MOBEAUTY – Ultimate Finish in Translucent

Value: $8.00

First, I want to say that the packaging for this foundation is beautiful! I love how it makes light reflect off of it in different colors.

In terms of the product, this setting powder worked well with my foundation. It was good, and didn’t crease. While I do prefer loose setting powder better, this still got the job done.

SLMISSGLAM B05 – Heart Angled Blush Brush

Value: $23

This was my choice! I am a sucker for new brushes, and this one is so cute for Valentine’s Day. It’s not as soft as my usual blush brush, but my 1 year old son sure loves playing with it! Right now, it might be his favourite toy. He’s always taking it out of the bathroom and rubbing it against his face saying “blush, blush, blush”. Honestly, for that reason alone I think that it was a good choice this month.

I don’t think I will use it on the regular, but I may use it as a brush that I take traveling with me.

GROWN ALCHEMIST – Gentle Gel Facial Cleanser

Value: $10.50

I really like this cleanser. It makes my skin feel so clean, and it has such a great smell. The only thing that I’m disappointed with is that the product is very hard to get out of the bottle. Because it’s a hard container and not squeezable, you kind of need to hold it upside down and wait.

Regardless, I would seriously consider buying the full-sized bottle if it ever goes on sale. Because it is pretty pricey for a cleanser. But for now, I will be using this one when I travel during Spring Break, as this deluxe sample is less than 100mL.

Verdict: Is it worth it?

Cost: $13 + tax and $1.99 handling = $15.82

I would say that it is worth it! There was only one product that I didn’t really like. The others I know that I will use on the regular, or save them for when I go on a road trip in a couple of weeks. This was a good month, and I can’t wait for next month’s haul!
